Have owned/own several pairs of LP 5 and 6. Purchased the alpine to use as a classroom shoe (teacher.) After a couple weeks of casual usage, upper seam where hemp material joins shoe liner started to separate. Since I spent a lot on this pair and never had this issue with my other LP shoes, I submitted a warranty claim only to be told it was considered "wear and tear" and not a defect. Three weeks of casual wear by a teacher in a classroom causes this to happen, I would definitely not recommend these. Very disappointed in Altra Customer Care. With the exception of sole wear, my lone peak 5s have held up extremely well as my primary hiking/outdoor footwear. These fell apart with my just walking around a classroom.

These shoes are attractive, comfortable and versatile. They have quickly become my go to daily wear shoes. The Alpines are comfy for walking and modest hikes.

Game changer! Instant relief of my ball of foot pain from Frieburg's disease. Great support yet still a nice cushion. Forest green will go with everything. Taking them on a 2-week vacation to Europe with hopes of great mobility!

Awesome shoe. Been wearing Altra for a number of years but wanted something a little more durable. My last pair were Lone Peaks. Good shoe but still more of a running shoe. Since Altra didnt have what I was looking for I bought a pair of Lems. The Lems were a good shoe but they weren't zero drop or Altra. As soon as I put on the Alpines it was like heaven. As mentioned....I've been wearing Altra for years as the zero drops have resolved some issues for me....shin splints, plantar facetious, etc. My only complaint was durability. I think I now have everything.

This is for the 1st at comment about the shoes falling apart after 3 months. I buy these shoes for work. I own a landscaping company and these are by far the most comfortable shoes I've owned. I'm on my 3rd pair and I still wear the first pair I bought 2 years ago. I rough on them and have had zero issues. Getting ready to buy another pair soon.

I love my Altra boots. These might be even more comfortable and look so much better for everyday wear. These are suede and canvas. They are soft and flexible and breathable. I wonder if they will be as durable for the trail. I will probably use other shoes if I know I am going to get muddy because I love these too much.

This is a very nimble hiking shoe, I wish they came in the wide version and ankle height(ergonomically&anatomically-oblique toebox:) For a normal human healthy foot(wide foot) Wipe the LP5 wide, I would purchase about five sets of them, But you are getting there little by little this is the best hiking shoe yet that you put on the market. I have five pair of the LP5 wide,I color-dyed one of them a Thon different, Because the wides only come in one color:( The other shoes in the comparison are Dundee Birkenstocks out of Production.

Shoes look and feel great but have noticed one unexpected flaw. As the lace eyelets are just holes in the leather they seem to be tearing. Could be a more serious issues if you like your shoes tight. I've been wearing mine relatively loose for just over a year. Something to be aware of. Otherwise great shoes.

I love these shoes as soon as I put them on: very comfortable and a great look. But two months in the fabric above the toes started coming apart in the same two spots on each shoe, which has only gotten bigger. And four months in, the tread is heavily worn despite basic city wear. When I got to walking some mild trails in Montana, it disappeared faster. These shoes are just too expensive to come apart and wear out so quickly. I would expect at least a year out of an everyday shoe at that price and I have had sneakers that lasted three years. I'll be surprised if these get to 9 months.

Fantastic. Please don't ever change this shoe My feet hurt in every other shoe I own. Only these make me feel I can walk for miles and miles I do. The toe box width and cushioning is perfect.

I used these on my Appalachian trail thru-hike. I tried these and the lone peak 6s. The 6s dried faster but weren't nearly as sturdy. I only went through 3 pairs of theseI'm actually still wearing the 3rd pair a month after finishing. 850 trail miles on the 1st pair. 950 trail miles on the 2nd. Nearly 400 trail miles on the 3rd. I wish altra would put the Maxtrac sole on it, but that's my only complaint. If they keep making them, I'll keep buying.

I love Altras but was looking for something I could get away with at work. These are perfect for more casual office environments and wearing around town.

I wear this shoe every day. All the time. For all the things. Inside and out. Wore them out. Back for another pair. I like that the dark green looks good with black and blue, so everything. Some reviewers said that they sounded like walking around in cleats. About once a month my life will be quiet enough to notice, but usually, there's just too much going on to notice.

I have had these for almost a year, wearing them M-F for an office job, so only really getting a lot of pavement in when I walk to lunch every day. They are super comfortable for most walks. If I'm moving at a fast pace or walking for miles on end I prefer my Lone Peaks. I could jog in these but I use my Lone Peaks for that instead. They are much better looking as a casual shoe though, and I really appreciate the muted colorways. I would like a 2.0 version to have a bit more robust outer sole. In 11 months of wearing these the lugs have worn off (probably 3-4 months earlier) under the ball of my foot and heel. I think a more traditional "casual" sole would not only make it more durable but also make it less likely to cause fatigue. They get pretty slick in the rain once the lugs are gone too.

I own several pairs of Altras, all super comfortable. This pair of Alpines is amazing, my feet have never felt more comfortable in a shoe. I plan on getting a second pair soon.

These shoes are incredibly comfortable. I've owned several other styles of Altra and these are by far my favorite fit. I feel like they have the perfect amount of support. I hope they wear well.

Podiatrist said get cushioned soles. These Alpine shoes have thinner soles than the Olympus 2 or 5 and the tread seems to grip better. Surprisingly I find the Alpine is much more comfortable than Olympus or Hoka or Sauconey shoes in my closet which all have thicker cushioning than Alpine and rocker soles. Alpine are the most comfortable shoes I have owned in years.

I was looking for an all around walking/hiking/office type shoe. I've always liked my Altra Running shoes and especially the wider toe box, these are fantastic. Just what I'm looking for, I've only had them a few weeks and I've already bought another pair to store them in the closet for future use. I was a huge fan of the Altra Cayd and was bummed when they stopped making them, I hope they don't stop making these LP Alpine shoes.

Was very happy with two different pairs of Altra "original footshape" running shoes, so bought these for everyday use and some hiking. Love them, so bought a second pair once on sale, in case they change them. Not putting lots of miles on them, but definitely not having any issues with construction or wear that I see in other reviews.

I bought these shoes in late 2022 to trek for mountain gorillas in Rwanda. They were perfect- comfortable, reasonably lightweight, sturdy. After that, they became my go-to adventure vacation shoes; Portugal, South Africa, Morocco in 2023. Wearing them in Patagonia January 2024, and wherever the compass takes me. I actually bought a second pair that are still in the box, just in case they stop making them.
