Oliberte
Oliberte™ is a responsible lifestyle footwear brand dedicated to supporting workers’ rights and sustainable manufacturing in sub-Saharan Africa. Established in 2009, the brand was driven by a passion to support sustainable change in Africa through vertical integration and crafting quality goods. August 2012 brought the opportunity to debut the first, and only, Oliberte factory in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. Today, close to 100 workers, made up of more than 60 percent women, work in roles ranging from patternmaking to stitching to management. In September 2013, Oliberte became the world’s first Fair Trade Certified™ footwear manufacturing factory.
Oliberte takes pride in the movement they have begun, which is why all footwear style names are inspired by African cities or countries, and why all products are made exclusively in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
